Hello again, and A Cautionary (Fairy) Tale

First in a while, lads and lassies. A little doggerel jotted down at the beginning of 2020 just before COVID and lockdown, and the cancelled year that it was. Not being much of a swordsman, I only have my pen. My keyboard is my shield!

A Leap of the Imagination

He was a frog

She should have known

She'd kissed a few

Called them her own

With weasel words

And sidelong glance

He spied her out

And took his chance

And oh! they say

That love is blind

This princeling frog

Romanced her mind

Beholder's eye

No truth it knows

She failed to spot

The Emp-ror's clothes

He was a frog

And not a prince

She should have known

And known long since

That princes few

Would cross her road

With warts revealed

He was a toad!
